In the Path of Huey…
During my recent trip to The Acanthus Workshop, I was blessed with beautiful weather. Normally this time of year has the people of the Mid-Atlantic states hiding in their air conditioned homes, but on this weekend it was mid 70s with low humidity. This naturally led us all to linger over our lunches on the back lawn of Chuck and Lorraine Bender’s home. On the second day after a particularly good meal of burgers and brats, I happen to notice the infamous hammock where Glen Huey was recently caught in a moment of repose. I couldn’t resist and decided to hang back for a moment in the presence of a mighty woodworker.
I swear that for at least a few more minutes once I returned to the shop, my work quality was much better. Although I had a strong desire to cut dovetails with a Shinto rasp for some reason…
