RWW 197 Picnic Style Dining Table Part 5

Its been a year and I returned to Maine to complete the dining table.  There wasn’t much left to do construction wise so I had plenty of time to get the finish just right.

First I drawbored the breadboard ends in place, removed a little twist in the trestle base, then prepped for finish. Finally I applied 4 coats of General Finishes EnduroVar to complete the build. I was really happy that I was able to convince my client to skip the distressing part of this build and to let the natural grain pattern and “lesser” grade lumber provide the character.

When all was said and done and delivered I was sad to see this table go. So was my wife, I guess I’ll be building another one some day for us.

Great job. I loved the use of the weight lifting belt for the shoulder strap.

Actually I had a leather artist work up something special for that strap so its not actually weight lifting belt. You can see more about it in this post

That very cool looking. I like the pencil holder on it.

Wow –

The table turned out amazing. Your skills continue to amaze!

I wouldn’t even try to hold the level of accuracy in a remote location that you did. The most I will try with hand tools is to tap tune the back and top of an archt. guitar. Otherwise I am getting out the power tools. Getting the top and back glue joints true with a shooting board is beyond my skill.

But an excellent project, I am sure the customer was very pleased.
