Hi Shannon

First, thanks for doing these podcasts. I download them and listen to them on the train to and from the office. They help the trip go much faster…

Second, I am inspired by your podcast to have a go at pen turning. I am in the process of restoring an old metal lathe which I will use for making bits and pieces for the tools I like to make for myself and, if I make some sort of tool rest, I reckon that I could use it for turning pens too. What do you think?

Third, I was really gratified that you have mentioned Neil Ellis’s Ultrashine (EEE) and Shellawax products. Not only are these really great Australian products which we reckon are top stuff (not just for pens either – shellac followed by Ultrshine and Shellawax is my favourite finish for boxes and small furniture too), but Neil is a great supporter of amateur woodworkers. He provides the Austalian Woodworking Forums – http://www.woodworkforums.com – and he has written the best book on finishiing I know of – http://www.ubeaut.com.au/book.html.

I look forward to your next podcast.

Cheers

Jeremy
