Shop Update for 11/4/16: Sizing Narrow Boards
To Saw or To Plane, That is the Question
Last week I released a video on some panel clamps I made. This week I used them and glued up a 3 board Cherry panel that came out with perfectly flush edges and no fuss. It was a nice affirmation of the work put into the panel clamps.
I got a question about how to take a narrow board down to final size when you have too much to remove by just planing it. The obvious answer is to saw it but this is easier said than done when you have a narrow board under 3 or 4″. At the same time, is there too much waste to plane it away? Maybe not if you use the right tool.
Did I Miss Anything?
If you have questions about either of these approaches or maybe you have had success with another method, I’d love to hear them.
