WIA Was a Blast!

Well the Woodworking in America madness is over and I’m recovering from an incredible weekend of woodworking fellowship. This week I share a few of the things I saw and a great tip on stringing from Freddy Roman (and Will Neptune). Plus I share a few highlights from my classes, at least until I can get the whole presentations edited and published.

As far as drill bits. a set of number drills has more variety than something that is by the 64 th of an inch. McMaster-Karr has them I am sure.

    Hmm I was not aware of number drills David, I’ll have to check those out

Can you show how you shape the drill bit to use it in a scratch stock. Do you bevel it with the relief on the back? Do you burnish a hook on it like a scraper? It sounds like a great idea but not having seen it up close it is hard to visualize exactly what to do when I am grinding the bit to make it ready to use.

    It’s a double bevel to a point. No burr. I’ll be showing it in a video shortly

    I really appreciate that. Which one did you miss?

      I missed the saw class, but caught the tail end of it which prompted me to take your other classes. I would have liked to stay after and chat with you, but the lines grew quickly and I didn’t what to say other than thanks. Hope to take a class from you again one of these days or just get to hang out and talk shop. Loving the pod cast too, so thanks again Shannon.
